What 'fasting' are you offering this Lenten season?

It's decluttering season once again. The pandemia has forcibly incurred us losses in one form or another. That is why pondering about what mortification we could still muster is probably a difficult thing. Yet, fasting is required of us. Anything in your lifestyle that you could do away with?

I haven’t decided et, but I am cutting down time on Facebook, and other Social Media outlets, mainly I’m looking to actually declutter my house, and give things I don’t need to the needy...

@Michellekidwell Facebook has become a venue for envy and alienation. Well-off friends posted travels and non-stop dining that the little people felt deprived. Instead of becoming closer, many have become distant.

That's a good plan. There would always be someone who needs a slack or a shirt. Facebook is no longer exciting. Same stuff each day. If there's nothing important on the notifications or messenger, it's best to skip fb and better tend the garden.

@eileenleyva I have family and friends I keep in touch with there, but definitely don’t spend much time there...

I could really do with reduced technology....Fast food......fake sugar/sugar alternatives.....high fructose corn syrup.....diet sodas......caffeine... I don't celebrate/practice Lent though, but I do try to make goals for myself and challenge myself throughout the year. Oh, and decluttering is a good one!

That's a lot of cleaning to do. Lent is a good time to get rid of the addiction to carbonated drinks and caffeine.

Are you fasting/giving up something? Lent is not part of my life. I try to work on various habits all the time.

Yup. A little less of something we like very much during Lent. That is aside from abstinence from meat and fasting (1 full meal a day) on all Fridays of Lent. And Holy Week. Plus, there must be acts of kindness towards neighbors in dire need. Though the practice is already embedded on the faithful, Lent calls for more stringent measures.

Those two worlds I never ventured on. Trying is lame. 'Do it' is effective.

@almostoveryou Connie, you are so funny. Ha ha. I get the picture. That is why the cover of my android is shredding. And my android has no storage any longer. Cannot be used as a camera. No messenger, too. Thus I am a lady forever on a diet. I choose the easy regimen.

@eileenleyva it's easier to follow a diet and exercise regimen.

Aside from the usual fasting and abstinence on food and meat, I used to give up on something that I really, really want as a form of my own small self-sacrifice for the Lord.

Any example of what you gave up?
