I stayed off of facebook for 2 years. I honestly forgot about it until people brought it up. The reason why I left facebook to begin with was because of all the drama and negativity I would read/see every day. I normally don't participate in those conversations. I found it to be very toxic to my mental health. Recently, a friend of mine told me that she's been traumatized because of a video she watched on facebook. I won't get into the details because of the terrible content that was in it. I felt bad for her. She didn't mean to watch the whole video. She thought that it was just a guy arguing on the phone with his girlfriend. It took a really bad turn, and my friend continued to watch just to see if it was a hoax or just a joke. It wasn't. She said that there was no warning prior to clicking on the video. It worries me because those kinds of posts are what alters someone's mind and views on life. I decided recently to create a new facebook account just to catch up with some friends and family that I don't talk to on a daily basis. For the most part, I barely go through my newsfeed. I think I like sticking to blogs, because I can see the topic titles, and skim through the first couple of sentences so that I can decide whether I want to read it or not. I almost feel like deactivating my facebook account again. Do you go on facebook? If so, how much time do you usually spend on it? I have friends that pretty much live on facebook. I wonder if it's the same for a lot of people.

I rarely go on facebook. At the start of 2020 I used to post on there (view posts) everyday. But, Facebook is toxic. The only reason I haven't deleted my account is that there are a few friends on there who I wouldn't get to talk to otherwise. Now, that's becoming less true. So.... I may eventually delete my account. I have the phone numbers of those who'd I might talk to anyway.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat! It's crazy though.. I have a friend that recently deactivated her facebook, and she texted me asking "When does it get easier? I deactivated my facebook yesterday, and disabled the app because it won't let me uninstall it. But since then.. I think I've tried to open facebook about 50 times out of habit!". I've never really had that problem, so I didn't know what to tell her. I did recommend that she put her facebook app in a folder, and label it "DON'T TOUCH" haha

@m1dn1ghts0ul Depending on the phone, she can hide apps she doesn't want to see anymore. I've found, the best way to stay off facebook is to slowly ween yourself off of it. Once you get to where you don't really care, and aren't checking it, then that's the time to delete the account.

@kaylachan That's a good idea! It's an addiction for some. So just like a lot of addictions, it's best to ween off of it. I'll definitely recommend that to her!
