Planning to make lasagna later and never really used oregano before. We do have this plant, and mom says it is called oregano, but when i look it up on youtube their oregano has smaller leaves. Not sure what it tastes like since it's the first time i'll be using it.
Also there are many types of oregano?
So is this one safe to chop and mix in the sauce?

No, this is not oregano. Oregano does not have toothed leaves. The edges of the leaves are smooth and the young leaves and stems are slightly hairy.
Your picture looks most like lemon balm, which is the same family (Labiate) but has an entirely different flavour to oregano.

I do not know about how it should look but oregano is very good in cooking and particularly with tomatoes. Maybe this can help you

@lady1993 Good to hear it was a success. I first tasted it in a bacon and pineapple flauta. It was weird because my tastebuds know it was medicine. But it tastes good.

@yoalldudes yes definitely tasted a bit like herbal tea.

That is not the Oregano we use in making pasta or lasagna sauce. The leaves are smaller compared to the Philippines oregano in the photo. That Oregano in the photo is what I use when I cook jackfruit with coconut milk and making tea too for coughs and colds.
