Not a lot of luck with big appliances this month

A couple of weeks ago, our refrigerator died. Earlier this week when the repairman was looking at it, he tried something that tech support told him to do and it fried the motherboard. The company is replacing the fridge, but it takes time and meanwhile we're trying to manage everything without a kitchen fridge (thank goodness for the small fridge in the garage).
A few months back, our 13 year old washing machine wore out and we purchased a replacement. Since the dryer had a smaller capacity than the new washing machine, we ordered a matching dryer that was scheduled to arrive sometime around the end of February, but we hadn't heard from the company yet regarding delivery.
This morning at 8am, an appliance installer knocked on our door -- our dryer was here!
We scurried around and made room for him to bring in the dryer (if we had known he was coming, we would have been ready), and he took away our old dryer and installed the new one.
...which didn't start.
The installer told us he didn't have an outlet tester that would work on a 220V outlet, wished us luck, and left.
Fortunately, my partner (who used to install large appliances in homes) did have something to test the outlet and verified that the outlet itself was the problem. Our last dryer was a gas-powered one, so we had never used that particular outlet before... who knows how long it's had issues!
So now we have an electrician coming over today to look at the outlet.
How's your Sunday looking today?

"When it rain it pours."
And it's always with the big appliances too. I hope the new outlet work won't be costly.

$180/hr.
That seems to be standard for this area, and I'm thankful he's not charging extra for coming in on a Sunday.
I knew I should have done laundry yesterday instead of doing other errands.

@spiderdust Yikes! How long will it take, do you know? It's good he isn't charging you extra as most people would.

Thats just bad business. He should have stayed and got some kind of verification to return and hook it up to work. And a guy fried your fridges motherboard. They should give you a super deal for the new one

The fridge is getting completely replaced at the manufacturer's expense. I can't ask for more than that (except that they could hurry up about it).

I think your family is like ours, we use them a lot and they do not last as long as we think they should. It happens at our house too. when the first appliance goes out, I just brace myself and wait. If you smaller dryer still worked you should have kept it for when this one goes out.

It was already having some issues, so we knew we'd be replacing it soon. Unfortunately we didn't have anywhere to store the old one.

We got it brand new years ago, but one of the springs holding the drum in completely wore out.

Luckily it's not raining today, so I can dry a few things outside.
