This was borrowed from The Oakes times. [volume] (Oakes, N.D.) 1906-current, March 03, 1921, Image 5 Found on ChroniclingAmerica.Loc.Gov
This was taken from the fifth page. There appeared to be a "local happenings" section on each page. Either they had a lot of societal types living in Oakes, North Dakota at that time, or there was't much else going on in the town.
This is the first paper I've come across with so many "local happenings" listings in one issue. Maybe that isn't as uncommon as I expect, but who knows?
I love looking at the wanted ads / classified ads from history too, Don't You?

I love reading old listings. Too bad they aren't easier to read.

I'm sorry. If you go to the website you can look it up and increase the size from there. I try to increase it as much as it will allow without drowning out more than I want it to.

I'm sure the population has a lot to do with it. Maybe the smaller the town, the more likely they will have printed more about the "local happenings". Or maybe it's vice versa.

True. I've read about all sorts of things from these newspapers. I've even found a story or two.
