Day 205 Promise 670 Hebrews 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. 23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: 24 But this man, because he continues ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost who come unto God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them. 26 For such a High Priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 Who needs not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. 28 For the law makes men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, makes the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. People change. Nothing in life remains the same. People need to renew and make changes to important documents. The writer to the Hebrews told them, there was one constant. Jesus. Under the old law, they needed to go to an ever-changing high priest every year to offer sacrifices for their sins. However, Jesus never changes. When He died and rose again, He became their High Priest. They no longer needed to go to a different priest and make new sacrifices for their sins. Jesus took their sin when He died on the cross. Sin no longer had a hold on them. As Christians, sin no longer holds you captive. Jesus took your sins and nailed them to the cross and washed you clean in His blood. Now, when you sin, He makes intercession for you with the Father when you confess your sin. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV) Jesus is your advocate between you and Satan. Satan accuses you daily of your sin, but Jesus goes to the Father and intercedes for you because you are His. 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (KJV) When you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, your life changed. With change came freedom from sin and death. Satan has no hold on you. Jesus intercedes for you with the Father. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your Son, who intercedes for me when I sin. Help me go to You when Satan accuses me of sin. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
