I know I’m a little late, doing a big shopping to fill up the fridge both freezers and the pantry wiped me out, then there was putting it all away, the weather has gotten cold and the snow they were talking about is a very real possibility, but the good news is we got all that we needed, but back to the subject on hand. Today is/was International Women’s Day, and I could spotlight many remarkable woman who had a hand in making a change, but this will be about Helen Keller. When Helen Keller was only eighteen months old she fell ill, and the illness led to loss of sight and hearing, and in the years before Anne Sullivan came along many considered her to be a wild child, but she was a child, trying to communicate and craving knowledge, wanting a voice, which Anne would help to bring her. Helen Keller would go on to become the first blind, deaf women to graduate from Radcliffe College, she would write books that are still read today, star in movies at a time when movies were still new, but more importantly she would become a fierce advocate for those with disabilities. She was known to visit soldiers recovering from life changing injuries after the war.
