volunteering

back in September i was looking for a job, but i came across an ad from one center – looking for volunteers and one of positions was: piano teacher. i thought that's great opportunity to finally use my knowledge and skill of playing piano i gained in musical high school. i texted them and in few days i had an interview and got accepted. i started volunteering in October. i've met a lot of new people and gained new skills and this was really useful for me. i have great communication with other volunteers, director, assistant, mentors, kids and their parents (one mom even asked me to give her son private piano classes ) i hope i keep volunteering in this center for some more time. i volunteered before, but it wasn't like this. it was for like one week or one day, but i've been teaching these kids for 3 months. i think it's good to volunteer and be involved in many different organizations and projects. what do you think about volunteering? do you think it's dumb to work „for free“?

My god, What a talented and kind person you are! As long as you happy, you can do whatever you want. I've never been a volunteer, but I think volunteering is an honorable activity. God bless you

oh stop it youuu thank you. i thought it would be a good idea to get some experience and work on being organized. why haven't you been volunteering? i haven't been volunteering in my hometown because there aren't many activities here. but in my college town there are many places to volunteer at.

@nadiaausftr i'm sure you can ask your professors if there's a place where you could volunteer. and i don't know what to say about overprotective dad, buuut you'll be 18 soon (that's officially an adult here), so it's not "only 17 years old", you can think for yourself. but, you know the best

@aureategloom I don't know how to be a volunteer and where in my city that need a volunteer. I also have a father who was so protective, and maybe because Im still in school and only 17 years old I still feel afraid of new things. One day I will definitely try to volunteer like you said that volunteering will increase my experience

I think it’s great, especially since you met wonderful new people and can give private lessons. I’ve done a lot of volunteering in my life. The pandemic halted it.

I think that volunteering is a great way to help people and at the same time gain some experience and stretch your social circle. I did lots of volunteering when I was younger in the fundraising

i think so too. but it's too bad that a lot of young people think like "that's dumb, you're working for free. they're just using you". i believe i got something from it - i meet new people, if nothing else. that sounds cool. i try to volunteer as much as i can, it will look good in my CV later. hopefully.

I love to work. I love the process. Love to help. So for me working for free isn't bad, just what environment we're in and who we accompany with matters...

I really want to again, I have actually been a volunteer teacher for kids last year, but it ended early because of the pandemic.
