Day 217
Promise 682
James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them who love him.
Temptation comes in all forms. Sometimes it’s hard to discern when temptation happens.
James said those who endured temptation would receive a blessing and a crown of life because they loved God.
As Christians, you need to be ever mindful of Satan’s tactics. He will use what you love most as a temptation against you. Your first avenue should always be prayer so you can discern Satan’s schemes. Satan will also use your weaknesses and thoughts against you. You can discern those and do your best to conquer those temptations. However, you can accomplish nothing without prayer.
Paul told Christians how to conquer Satan’s temptations by putting on the full armor of God.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Every piece of the armor protects you from Satan’s schemes. When you have your armor in place, you can endure temptation. Then when you see Jesus, He will give you a crown of life because of your love for Him.
Let’s pray: Father, help me keep Your armor on at all times so I can resist Satan’s schemes and recognize his temptations. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
