Wars should be fought only by senior citizens!!

War is one of the most tragic occurrences on our planet. It not only costs young lives, taken away in the prime of their youth but also leaves behind widows and widowers, fatherless and motherless children, bereaved parents, siblings, and friends, and often maimed and disabled young men and women. The decision to go to war is taken by so-called"wise "old men but it is the young who get killed. How much better it would be to have old men fight wars !! And old women too if they want to !!!. It would leave the world in a much better way than it is today - if you die after 60 - you have not lost too much - you would have done with the best years of your life. Besides you would die very quickly if injured, so chances of being maimed and surviving are far lower. And since old men are slower- wars would be slower and perhaps gentler too. And since the older one gets, the harder it is to die and believe in dying for your nation - no one would be willing to join the armed forces and peace would reign forever on earth!!

Honestly, I don't think many older people would want to go to war... Especially if they have already seen war...

@Fa_Maverick - well said- that is my point - If only old men can go to war and they do not want to - then there can be no war. Older people, more often than not, realize the futility of violence.

@jovy63 Young people would fight regardless of the age requirement though so there would probably still be war...

They should do it the way 'that one planet on STAR TREK (the original series),' where their whole population went into rooms where they were randomly eliminated when their countries were at war (and the country with the most people still alive won the war).'

I think war should not be fought by anyone, neither by young people nor by senior citizens. I know this is not possible, but this can be.

The better way is for those who create wars to fight with each other.
Now they survive while others die who want to live in peace and are in the same boat.
And arms and weapons are the most profitable business and are sold to all and sundry and then they stoke fires of conflict.

@jovy63 If it is for the olds to liken a war into something heroic deeds of putting their lives to an end in a battle believing they have short time to live then they have lost their sanity. And if someone is wishing or is thinking to place the olds in a battlefront believing they have few years or much shorter time to live then he is acting like a slaughterer. Instead condemn the evil doer both the youngs and the olds and not the weak, good, peaceful seniors. Nobody would want to put an end to their lives if they are living with their loved ones, caring for their children and grandchilchen. Wishing for more time to be with them.
