O'Donnell thinks Texas should be ASHAMED of Popular "Justice"

I say 'popular Justice' because I think /I/ would be 'proud of it' too (just like Texas's congressman Chip Roy). Chip says, "There's old sayings in Texas about find all the rope in Texas and get a tall oak tree. You know, we take justice very seriously, & we ought to do that. Round up the bad guys." In another discussion, @NJChicaa called that "lynching"; I thought they were 'being expressive' (you know, like "They're gonna /kill me/ for this" usually means 'I'm gonna get in trouble!') But on *The Last Word ...* (about 27 minutes into it ... I THINK the video's cued-up to that), Lawrence O'Donnell repeats that Chip was talking about "lynchings"---telling us that there were over 700 'lynchings' in Texas. https://youtu.be/XRkn0zGXiR4?t=1622 First of all, "lynchings" were usually "not deliberately fatal." What congressman Roy was talking-about was always definitely fatal! And then (switching from my 'etymology'-source to my 'memory of Ol` West movies'), the hangings were usually "sanctioned" by the one-and-only legal authority in the area. The Sheriff gave the order! Yee-Haw! But I guess people are "sure" that the /real/ Ol' West wasn't set up as clearly as the one in the movies ... that's the one I'd rather remember, tho
