Why Did We Forsake Skype to Join the Kingdom of ZOOM?

Don't you remember when 'Skype' was a verb, like "Google" (which I STILL understand as 'search the web,' even though I use Microsoft Bing or Ecosia)?
Why didn't "Skyping" become the de facto-method of video-chat?
My guess is that it's FREE ... but I don't use it much anyway (except for a TBI-survivors' support-group I go to using my roommate's laptop).

Yeah, but it gets kind of annoying when people send you 'a link to something that your machine can't read.'
I have a flip-phone, with very little space on it and no broadband connection (other than text-messaging). People send me links to 'their video-files' or something, and I JUST CAN'T OPEN `EM!

Maybe it's more difficult to add people into it; but 'a picture I saw when I was looking for the one I posted' said you could add FIVE-HUNDRED people to a Skype-call!
