Learning to draw animals

One of my goals this year is to learn to sketch animals. I've done a few in the past, and I want to sketch more and learn more. My daughter handed me a Nat Geo kid's almanac to use as reference, and I thought I'd sketch the penguins in it. It was kinda challenging at first and I made some erasures. But I love how it turned out when I lined it with a ballpoint pen. It's not done yet. I might add color to this sketch. I'll practise more next time. I'm actually rediscovering the joy of sketching with a ballpoint pen. The ballpen was my only tool back in high school. So happy to be using it again for art making.
