Three year old child Colt McLain is alive and well after his older sister Mia McLain told their mom Gretchen Larkin that Colt had swallowed a coin by mistake when he was playing with an electronic drawing pad when the small battery was swallowed by error since children tend to be curious creatures.
After Colt swallowed the small battery, his mother called poison control to report what happened to her son. The 911 operator advised Gretchen to give her son some honey and take him to a local hospital to be take care of by the doctors who operated on Colt to have two surgeries and x rays to remove the battery that he swallowed by accident.
Gretchen has learned not to leave batteries around the home since her children could swallow them by accident in the future.
Colt recovered from the battery swallowing incident. I am sure he will think twice before touching a battery for am electronic drawing pad. His stay in the hospital was an overnight stay.

That was terrible! I think that mothers should learn not to leave meds or little pieces of stuff near young children.

@Deepizzaguy I have read that most big accidents to small children happen because parents leave dangerous things nearby. In my country, many years ago, you could buy chlorine from vendors that sold it in the street. Women would use a soda bottle for it and leave it near the hands of toddlers. Now that can“t be done.

Small items should never be left around children under the age of 4.

He lucked out. However, button batteries (as the round disc-like batteries are sometimes called) can be accidently swolled. The mother needs to make sure her children can't get a hold of them. It's harder than it seems, and reminds me of a storry I saw on Tic Tok dealing with this very same issue.
