Okay. I had received a new modem for my computer some time ago, and had opened it but with all the house construction/apartment hunting/whatever it never got hooked up. I found the box with the new modem in it, but could not find instructions (which I remember seeing at one time, but with all the kookiness of things lately, misplaced). So, after hunting a while for the correct number, I contacted my internet provider and explained the problem, and the guy walked me through what to do,(aside from the part I'd already managed to do) and now I am on the internet via my computer again! Ah, technology is such a lovely thing...
