Day 238 Promise 705 2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. People argue about the validity of the Bible and its interpretation. Whether it is the true inerrant Word of God, or an interpretation written solely by man. Peter told the people the Holy Spirit wrote through holy men of God. As Christians, you know the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. Though written by forty different men, no one can deny the cohesiveness of the Word. No one by themselves with their own efforts could write God’s Word. Only through the Holy Spirit could such an undertaking take place. You can find confirmation throughout the Bible proving the Holy Spirit wrote through men. 2 Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and his word was in my tongue. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Men tried to prove the fallacy of God’s Word, only to become convinced and converted from atheism to Christianity. Challenged by college classmates, Josh McDowell searched the entire Bible for the errors in God’s Word, only to find no errors, and became not only a Christian but also an evangelist of God’s Word. He also wrote his findings in a book —Evidence that Demands a Verdict. Another man who came to the same conclusions was newspaper reporter, Lee Strobel, who went to great lengths to prove the Bible false, only to find incontrovertible evidence in the undeniable truth of God’s Word. He documented his findings in the book—The Case for Christ. There is also a movie made about his efforts to disprove the Bible. No matter how hard men try to prove the Bible is a myth conjured up by the minds of sinful men, they can’t do it. Therein lies our hope. God’s Word is true and every promise God made is sure. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me Your Word showing me Your heart for Your people. Help me stand firmly on Your Word and every promise You gave Your people. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
