Day 240 Promise 707 2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. One thing you will never get away from is scoffers. People will scoff at everything you do and will try to shame you into believing you’re not good enough to do the work. Peter told the people scoffers have been around since the beginning and will continue until Jesus’ return. He reminded them that with God, a thousand years was one day and one day as a thousand years. In that context, man has been around for almost seven days, and Jesus’ resurrection was two days ago. Peter further told them God isn’t slack concerning His promises. What we consider as a long time, God sees as no time. We need to be patient. God will keep His promise to you regarding the salvation of your family members and friends. As Christians, you need to be patient. God hears your prayers for the salvation of your loved ones. He wants everyone to experience salvation and come to repentance. He doesn’t want anyone to perish and spend eternity in Hell. Scoffers do Satan’s work. He puts it in their minds and hearts to berate your efforts and tell you God will not hear your prayers. He will tell you the person you’re praying for is beyond salvation. Don’t listen to him. Remember what Jesus told His disciples. John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Life is God’s plan for everyone. When Satan comes against you, remind him about God’s plan and his future. Continue to pray for your loved ones. God hears your prayers and will keep His promise of salvation to you. Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (KJV) Remember what Joshua told the people when they were about to enter the Promised Land. Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Be patient. God isn’t finished yet. There are many people who don’t know Jesus as Savior and Lord who need salvation. He knows every person by name. He hears your prayers for them. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your finished work of salvation. You don’t want anyone to perish but all to come to repentance. Give me patience for the work You are doing in the lives of my family members and friends who don’t know Your redeeming power. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
