Day 242 Promise 709 2 Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen. What kind of person are you? Do you listen to and believe everything the world puts out about the last days? Or do you look for and wait for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ? Peter told the people they needed to live holy lives as they waited for the day of Jesus’ return when the earth would dissolve and God would bring a new heaven and new earth for everyone to live in righteousness. Peter also brought them into remembrance of Paul’s epistles they read and live according to their faith and hope so they weren’t led away by the world. As Christians, it’s easy to believe the lies of the world and follow those things which lead you astray from the Word of God. However, when you commit your lives to God, spending time in His Word, you won’t be led astray, but you will live in hope of the day Jesus returns. When that day comes, the heavens will dissolve and a new heaven and new earth will come down from heaven for you to live in peace with Jesus. Psalm 50:3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. (KJV) Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. Micah 1:4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place. (KJV) Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. (KJV) Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, says the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. (KJV) Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defiles, neither whatsoever works abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life. What kind of person are you? Do you wait for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, so you can live with Him forever in righteousness? Let’s pray: Father, help me live my life set apart for You. Help me see the world’s lies and keep myself pure and holy before You as I wait for Jesus’ return. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
