Does anything get better as you get older?

Everyone always says "it gets worse when you get older." And I realise now that is true. In fact my mum used to say it so much I thought she should put it in Latin on a family coat of arms or something. But does ANYTHING get better as you get older? Does anything improve? Or is it really "all downhill from here?"

On getting older, we are depending on others, which create a bad situation for us. If we spare time for exercise and other things to keep us fit then this won't happen with us.

I really hope you're right as I only really have one person in my life I depend on and if she goes first I'm done for.

Losing our good looks little by little while watching it right before our very eyes

@Lindalahughes " beauty is in the eyes of the beholder " so I don't think it's right for you to pass on judgement to yourself

I've never been blessed with good looks so I'll have to take your word for that. But it must be hard if you're attractive to see that slipping away.

@Lindalahughes It surely is. I had not felt that until recently.

One has to accept it and try living with it. It's all about how you keep your health both mental as well as physical. Take care

It's all according what it is and what you do about it. I had arthritis but when I went on my macrobiotic diet (giving up meat and dairy) my arthritis has disappeared. And my Mum says that Andre Rieu gets better looking as he gets older!

@Lindalahughes I think Dolly Parton has aged well! She really does look young.

Haha people say that about men, but nobody ever says it about women. Except Helen Mirren!

I agree. Life is getting harder as we get older. You get sicker and need to cope up with life.

There is a difference between 'getting older' and 'being old'. When you're still young, getting older can be something positive which you can even enjoy. Being old is rarely a pleasurable experience. Only very few people are old without any ailments.

I am starting to find this too, everything does get worse as we age. The only good thing about aging is that you have more experience of life and you can help others with their problems , sometimes.

That's very true, you get more perspective on things don't you?
