Old age beats the alternative, doesn’t it? So I’m doing two countdowns to celebrate “old” “age.” Here’s another song with “old” in the title to celebrate my old age (my birthday is this month). #9: Old Days - Chicago Ah, for the days when Peter Cetera wasn’t Chicago’s prima donna, destroying the memories of a once-great band with his syrupy power ballads. “Old days,” indeed! Yeah, I’m still mad at him for that stupid stunt he pulled when Chicago was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (allegedly not showing up because he didn’t like the songs they picked and the keys to sing them in). And let’s remember: he was just one cog in a mighty wheel at one time. After Terry Kath’s death, though, he sort of took over and drove the band into the ground. Enough of that. He’s singing lead on this hit from the 8th Chicago album. (They were always nice to name their albums numerically, so you could keep up with how many records they had out. ) I remember buying this 45 early in my days of listening to rock and roll, so it’s been a long-time favorite.
