Fit for Purpose

I enjoyed reading Fit for Purpose because I am a fan of this sort of book. In fact I like any sort of self help book because some of them do have a few life changing suggestions that can be easy to follow. I certainly did pick up a few easy tips on how to make myself fitter while reading this book. The author does not expect everyone who reads it to take vigorous exercise and become fit as a fiddle overnight, but he does tell his readers how they can make small changes in their daily life which will make a difference over the course of time. His suggestions of how to change include things that most of us can do without even trying. For example, he tells us the benefits of movement in our daily life. He also explains why we as a society are not as active and fit as previous generations have been. Another thing I like about this book is the way the doctor tells us about his own problems , both medical and personal. This makes the reader get to know him better as a person and not just as somebody who is dishing out advice to the masses.

@jefferson126 I have never read an E-book because I prefer to read print books, I am old fashioned like that. What was the title of the book that you read?

It doesn't need a book to point out why modern 'western' humans are less fit and active than previous generations! Cars and desk jobs, for example, instead of walking to do hard manual work at 'the big house' or on the farm. But if you are enjoying the book, that's great. And if it helps you make some positive changes to your life, even better. After all we only get one chance so it makes sense to get the best out of it, and for that you need good health.

This book does tell you how to make the best of your health without having to make drastic changes. I do agree that most of it is common sense really.

That's correct we are not as active like our past generations but we can work on that aspect and improve

This is true because our lives are easier than past generations, due to us having more labour saving devices in the home, and cars to take us everywhere. But now these things are having a bad effect on our health because they are making us move less.
