The ground was so lumpy!

I’m away from home at the moment, so away from all the usual time constraints. And it was a beautiful sunny evening, so I thought I would take my laptop and sit in the field near where I know there is a badger sett, just on the off-chance I might catch a glimpse of some while also doing a bit of work. And if not - well it was just a lovely evening to sit out there anyway.
I saw a few rabbits, and a fox which stood and looked at me for a few moments before deciding to go the other way. There was a pheasant making his croaking call in the next field, sheep baa-ing here and there, and plenty of birds although many were heard rather than seen.
The sun was warm on my back, there was a fresh smell of grass in the sun, it was very peaceful and I had taken a thick blanket, folded over several times, to sit on, but my goodness the ground was so lumpy! It didn’t seem possible to find a comfortable position and I kept getting pins and needles in my legs because a hard lump was digging into me in one place or another (or several!)
In the end I didn’t see any badgers, but nevertheless I did spend a couple of hours there enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Happy to be sitting on something more comfortable now though!

I loved sitting on the ground when I was a child. It’s not ever comfortable to me these days.

@Fleura yes, I have parts of our property that are definitely more lumpy than other areas.

Looks like a very tranquil and peaceful setting, I am glad you got to enjoy your time sitting among nature. The photo reminds me of the countryside in Latvia as in the photo I attached.

We have this kind of landscape in the south of Germany where I live, too.
You could buy a simple folding chair and take it with you when you drive around. There are very light specimens. I've got one. I sewed a kind of rucksack for it so that I can carry it on my back to the place where I want to sit.
I've just checked aluminium chairs on amazon. They weigh ~ 2 kg. That's not too much to carry for a short distance.
