Or maybe some carpet from an outlet store? I’m in Ringgold, Georgia, which is just over the Tennessee/Georgia border from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ten years ago today this place was hit by a nasty tornado as part of the 2011 Super Outbreak. I watched a beautiful and heartbreaking tribute to the victims of the Alabama storms (Alabama was the hardest hit of that outbreak, with 252 of the 324 deaths occurring in the state). But I also enjoyed a lovely drive down. My major stop was at Nickajack Dam, which is just outside of Chattanooga. The dam is on the Tennessee River (one of many built by the TVA for hydroelectric power in the 20s and 30s). That area on I-24 between the north part of Chattanooga and Nickajack Lake is one of my favorite drives for the scenic beauty. I enjoyed a walk around the park and along the lake. Many, even late in the day, were fishing. Others had just left the lake from swimming (I don’t know if I would’ve done that. While it was 84 here, that doesn’t mean that water was 84!). All in all, a lovely day of enjoying life.
