They were using his phone number

United Kingdom
May 5, 2021 4:49am CST
I spoke to my friend on the phone yesterday and she told me that her husband had been getting phone calls and then getting charged for them. She said that he had phoned one of the numbers back and spoke to a man that he did not recognise as one of his contacts. The man on the other end of the phone said that he had not made any calls that day, so the call could not have been from him, even though it was his number that had been used. I thought this was very strange and I wondered if their phones could have been hacked .

He needs to contact the phone company and report it.

It's probably been hacked, so try to check it or do something about it

I think he tried something on his security in the end.

Certainly sounds like it. Scammers these days can make it appear as though a call comes from a particular number when it doesn't.

I think so too. But I heard that it is possible for two people to share the same number without knowing each other

Maybe the husband should call the phone company about what's happening, since he is getting charged for them.
