Day 268 Promise 736 1 John 5:16 If any man sees his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them who sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. People like to believe everything can be forgiven. All they need to do is say they’re sorry and all will be well. John told the believers to pray for their brothers who sin, so God will forgive them. However, he also told them there is an unforgivable sin. As Christians, it isn’t a matter of confession and all will be well when you sin against the Holy Spirit. Jesus told the people everything they did could be forgiven except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. What is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit Jesus spoke about? Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit takes place after you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. It is the Holy Spirit who draws you to Christ and brings you to salvation. If after you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, you deny Him and His salvation on your life, you deny the work of the Holy Spirit. Denying Jesus as Savior and Lord in your life is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and is unforgivable. There is no blasphemy of the Holy Spirit before you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. Everyone has the opportunity to accept God’s work of salvation to the world, His Son, Jesus, who shed His blood for you on Calvary’s cross and rose again the third day so you could have eternal life. It is only after you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, Satan will do everything he can to divide you from your salvation. Don’t let him. John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Stand firm against Satan. Pray for your loved ones to receive the precious gift of salvation. Pray for them night and day after they receive salvation so that Satan will not divide them from their salvation and deny Jesus as their Savior and Lord. If it was impossible to do, Jesus would not have told the people about the unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit. You need to guard your hearts and minds against Satan’s ploys. He will attack when you least expect it. Let’s pray: Father, guard my heart and mind against Satan’s attack on my life. Keep me in Your tender care so I will never deny You as my Savior and Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 6 May 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
