A circumcision tale from way back when my daughter was learning medicine.

Am really very tired this morning. Had my second dose of vaccine yesterday and today, I attended to the yard work. But I was reminded of this story which made me laugh. Not palatable but nevertheless a happy one. So I thought I'd share before I slip into slumber. My elder daughter came home one night hungry. She sat down on the counter table and started eating sinigang na bangus (milkfish in sour broth). Thought I'd update her and said her sister performed six circumcision. On the first circumcision, Doc Tan, the supervisor in the medical mission asked her sister "Where's the P?" Her sister asked what P? Doc Tan smiled and said it's the personal inscription, on first circumcision. We had a good laugh. Then my younger daughter joined us in the counter and narrated in detail the circumcision - the skin, the spurt of blood, etcetera, that made her big sister stop eating Ugggh, the elder daughter almost vomited. Gosh, the younger one exclaimed, that's only a description, you know not the smell and you're vomiting! My daughters, never a dull day! A good memory from way back. I miss those days.....

Wow! That was not to be discussed while someone is eating

I was eating when my younger daughter narrated the story to me. I always listen because my younger daughter has no time for conversations. Back in her first year of med school, I fetched her after she dissected a corpse. She named her specimen 'Peter." I brought cheeseburgers from McDo, and she gobbled the sandwich in a jiffy. You are correct. I couldn't eat mine. Not even when we got home. Albeit in time, I got used to it. I was eating a full meal when she narrated how she was asked by a cardiologist to massage a heart.

@eileenleyva wow. I'm glad you now can overcome the explicit story and eat. The problem is that our mind always tries to picture what is being said and that can make you lose appetite. I wouldn't eat either if I were told such explanations

@mildredtabitha You are absolutely correct again. The images stay in the mind. Worse, the doctors are required to take photos and even videos of the procedures. My daughter doesn't hesitate to show me the images when she's home. She showed me one time a super large myoma that she removed from a patient. I felt sad. I have refrained from eating beef and pork, though sometimes I could still eat cheeseburgers. Only cheeseburgers. Or maybe a little of bulgogi. Two or three strips.

I am. Very much. I obey the Mosaic Law. Germans must also be Jewish. Almost all Filipino males have the German cut. What about Americans? The Japanese are not usually circumcised, they say. Shalom!

@TheHorse Oh, I thought Americans have the same as Captain America's. The graphics was deleted quickly so I didn't see it.

I would also loose my appetite to eat and feel like throwing up when someone tells stories about blood spurting and other circumcision procedures or other surgical procedures while I'm eating. That's why I did not dare take up medicine or nursing in college.

Hemophobia, I believe, runs in the family. Not just my daughter but also my male cousins. Do you get goosebumps at the sight of blood? Or wobbling knees? Must be torture. My daughter cringes. Do you?
