I shop at Target, a US retail department store that also sells grocery items and kitchen utensils. Interestingly enough, in spite of all the negative press given about China and the US trade relations, I find the stainless steel teaspoons sold individually for about $1.99 ea. to be of excellent quality. Gelato sells by the pint at Target and I bought a pint because I was hungry and after shopping with my wife for a long while I did not want to wait until we got home from shopping, so I purchased a pint of chocolate gelato that I believe is from Italy, imported and is pretty expensive, but not anything more expensive than Ben & Jerry's ice cream or Godiva. I had to get a spoon to eat it and of course, there are no sit down in-store arrangements at the local Target at the time I was there a few weeks ago, so I had no place to sit and enjoy the gelato and due to Covid-19 rules, I had no choice but to take the pint of delicious and creamy dessert to the car, parked in the lot, outside and figured I needed a spoon so I found that $1.99 stainless steel teaspoon in a bin in the housewares department. I figured, I better buy 2, because my wife would like one too. In any event, I was half-way finished eating the gelato along with sipping on a hot cappuccino from the in-store Starbucks coffee shop, and of course, due to Covid-19 rules I had to drink the coffee in our car. I can remember thinking, 'MADE IN CHINA' ? SO? I mean, give me a break. I could easily have used a plastic spoon, but knowing that plastic spoons easily break when trying to pry some frozen ice cream or in my case, gelato, which is basically a better form of ice cream, usually sold in European countries, but not that popular in the United States, I needed a good solid spoon. Who cares if the spoon is made in China. We import goods from there and from all over the world, so I am not going to get political here. It is a well made spoon. In fact, I have intentions to buy a full set next time I return to shop at the local Target. The spoon is smooth and curved in a way that makes it a comfortable thing to hold and unlike many flat-ware spoons, it is rounded off at the handle and has no fancy gnarling in the handle, which is common with most US made silverware and stainless. The rest of the gelato sat for a while longer but I managed to get it home soon enough to refrigerate for later. In Texas, if you drive half an hour, with ice cream or for that matter, a Hershey bar, you will have a chocolate soup in that wrapper by the time you arrive home after going shopping. A friend recommended I get myself a small ice chest and that way I can keep dairy items cold while driving home this summer. They don't expect you to eat that pint of ice cream while your at the store? No. they expect you to take it home but I usually enjoy a snack every now and then so the best place, during a pandemic, is to take your mocha cappuccino and chocolate gelato to your car, sit and eat and drink then, return to do your shopping. There was a time, long before the pandemic, and when Target was just Target, and you could actually find a place to sit and enjoy coffee, popcorn or some other snack before doing your browsing. I hope I live to see a day when, after this pandemic is over, when I can go back to enjoying my coffee and snacks in-store, at a table, and not have to worry about social distancing. Meantime our parked car is the best solution for the time being.

Good to see you again! We have the same thing here. We eat anything we buy from a coffee shop or fast food, inside the car. Enjoy ice cream! Just had mine along with chocolates. As for teaspoon, I don't own one.

In my case, I could have simply waited until it melted and sipped it like a milk shake.

China is the world factory whether we like it or not. We do what is convenient and adjust to the times. This pandemic has turned our carefree lifestyle on its head. Hope we get back to life as we knew it asap.

I do also. I have adjusted to the changes but continue to be hopeful that we all pull out of this and move ahead with some level of progress with our lives.
