Owning a gun is good or bad

Recently they are lots of crimes committed by guns so lost of countries they impose restrictions to own one. But look it the other way if every body allowed to get a gun for protection then maybe will be less crimes . Know if some one try to hurt you or me but then if they know that we do carry a gun for protection then they might think twice to commit a crime against us. I prefer no one should have a gun. In UK the police officer will not carry one even now with this violence environment . So lets destroys all guns owned by people and try it for years and see what the impact is.
