Day 271
Promise 739
3 John 1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He who does good is of God: but he who does evil hath not seen God.
Compromise is the watchword today. Another is tolerance. You see it everywhere you go. It affects every area of your life.
John sent this letter to Gaius. He commended him for his faith and charity in the church. He told him to stay away from evil because those who practice evil have not seen God.
Today, it’s hard to tell Christians from non-Christians. You’ve been told you need to compromise your values if you want to fit into society. You need to tolerate those things God doesn’t tolerate. Those who don’t compromise or refuse to tolerate those who refuse to acknowledge God or Jesus as Savior and Lord, who mock Him, and treat the gospel of Jesus Christ shamefully, are set apart and treated with disrespect. Their values are thrown in their face.
Yet, those Christians who remain steadfast in their faith, unmoving, will receive their reward from God.
Peter and John had gone into the temple and saw a man crippled from birth. In the name of Jesus, they healed the man who then gave glory to God for his healing. The authorities heard what happened and brought Peter and John before the council and threatened them. They told them not to speak in Jesus’ name.
Acts 4:15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? For that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them who dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was showed.
Peter and John did not compromise their faith, but boldly told those in authority they would continue to do God’s work and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the face of such faith, the authorities couldn’t punish them and were forced to let them go free.
As Christians, you need to stand steadfast in your faith too, uncompromising, unwavering, and intolerant of those things God finds offensive. When you do, those who come against you will back off. They have no choice. Satan guides them. Satan cannot stand against God’s Word.
Let the world know you’re a Christian. Let them see you standing for Jesus Christ and shunning all that the world would bring your way. You don’t need to compromise your faith. You don’t need to try to fit in. You don’t fit in and never will. You belong to Jesus Christ. God is your Father. It’s time the world knows who you serve.
Let’s pray: Father, help me stand steadfast for You, uncompromising and faithful to Your Word. Let those who know me see You in me and know the world has no part of me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
