It's not fried. It's roasted over live charcoal.

Yes! It is possible here in the Philippines. It is cooked in a bamboo tree or a tube made of steel stuck from the mouth of the pig up to the tail part. It will be cooked up above a charcoal like were grilling steaks. Then turning it over and over and over for 3-4 hours or more until the pig skin become golden brown/red.

It is one of the famous food served in any occasions here in the Philippines. Especially those special occasions, lechon is always present in the table. And one thing more, we have this Parade of Lechon(Parada ng Lechon). It's a Festival of Lechons. They will be paraded on the streets moving around with so many locals and visitors. The streets would really be full of expectators. But for now all kinds of festival here in the Philippines are all cancelled since last year.

It really depends on the sizes if you want to purchase a whole. Where I live, I was shocked that its current price per kilo is 600 pesos.

I’m sure it’s delicious but the fact that it looks like it did when it was alive and running around kind of makes me queasy.

@angelitovillegas To each his own! I prefer a nice big chef salad. The pig in the ham there is not recognizable at least.

I don't eat pork any longer but when offered a crispy lechon skin, I'd probably take a bite.

Lechon is not in my English dictionary. Why don't you call it 'suckling pig' so that everybody can understand it? I think that prizes should be mentioned in dollar as this is an international site. You don't even mention the name of your country on your account site so that nobody knows what your currency is.
