Have You Ever Hurt Your Knees Badly?

I tripped on a rope and fell on the sidewalk. I should have put down the heavy grocery bag before stepping over it, even if the rope was only a inch from the ground. My left knee hit the cement. The rest of me landed on the bulky groceries. Thankfully, no item was broken or burst open. What a mess (and waste) it would have been. I washed the wound with soap and water, then applied Betadine (Povidone-Iodine solution). I never covered it. When we were kids, we dreaded using Merthiolate because it really stings then cover with a Band-aid. Now that the scar is drying, it hurts a bit when bending or straightening my leg because it feels like the skin is being stretched. Curiously, some websites say surface wounds should actually be covered and kept moist. I've never had a wound this big, even when I was growing up.
