Gelato Ice cream

Whenever I go on package tours I consult friends who have already been to those places and look for that which they recommend. A friend told me when I visit Italy I should look for Gelato Ice cream - a speciality of Italy - but I never got to taste it as we were mostly taken to Indian restaurants It was quite a disappointment Have you had disappointments while on tour? It is disappointing. I would prefer to taste the local specialty instead of the food I usually eat.
