Day 299 Promise 769 Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them who were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Everyone dies, but not everyone lives again. During the millennial reign of Jesus Christ, John saw those who died for their faith in Jesus Christ raised to new life. They didn’t take the mark of the beast or worship him. They became martyrs when the Antichrist killed them for refusing to worship him. Jesus resurrected them to live and reign with Him for a thousand years. Death no longer held any power over them. John also mentioned the second death. All those who died during the Tribulation without acknowledging Jesus as Savior and Lord, would not live again. Instead, they would receive their final judgment at the end of the Tribulation, when Jesus sentences all those who rejected Him to eternal separation from Him. Eternal separation from God is the second death. As Christians now, you have no fear of the second death. You know that when you die, you will be in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. As seen in previous chapters, you will take part in the final battle with Jesus. You will not reign as kings and priests during the millennium. That honor belongs to those who came out of the Great Tribulation; those who didn’t take the mark of the beast or worship him. Let’s pray: Father, keep me grounded in You so that when I die, I have no fear of eternal separation from You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
