It Had to Happen, Didn't It?

Last night Windows decided to do an update on my computer... a long update. What happened next got me riled and kept me up until 4am. Microsoft Office was gone. To me it appeared, eventually, that they removed it to make room for a silly picture of a sun with the temperature and weather description. When I hovered over that a page of news came up. I cannot reinstall Microsoft Office. One reason being I can't find the dang key code. My daughter tried to install hers on my computer but it is saying there is no room. I cannot access WORD and I cannot access EXCEL where my books read spreadsheet is kept, though the actual document is on flashdrive. Actually, all documents are still on the computer, there is just no program in which to open them. So I try the downloads and get a message to upgrade to Premier at $8.00 per month. But they say there is no room on my computer??? I have very few photos and I delete those I don't need once I'm done, like the books I read. I have very few games also. But the computer is 8 years old. So what do I do. My darling daughter has said she will buy me a new computer for my birthday (which is in October) but early. I honestly don't know what I would do without that kid. And she is so the opposite of her older sister. Did anyone else get a friggin' computer update that messed things up? I'm almost finished the book I'm reading right now and can't put it on the spreadsheet. P.S. Google has a spreadsheet program. I am just not sure whether it is compatible with EXCEL.

My computer did a long restart last night, I shut it off to end that because it was taking hours.

It didn't take hours but it took longer than usual. Actually, I usually go to bed but I still had something I wanted to do so I waited.

This discussion made me check my own applications. MS Word is still there, so I assume the whole Office is intact. Goes without saying that I don't really use it. Funnily enough it's a picture of moon in my case (that's how I knew your update is same as mine)... I am a nocturnal person LOL. And it didn't take that long to upgrade too. I laptop is 6 years old, could be 8 years too. How much is the storage on your computer? I don't like the "enhancements" they have done in Outlook, and that is a very common complain among its users, if that qualifies as "messing things up". The upgrade to Big Sur (for my Mac) was a total disaster as it made half of my work impossible. Ended up with factory reset to get the previous OS.

I don't have Outlook. Office added a new fancy icon to my systems tray (along with the weather), but I still need to download the software. They say there is no room and then turn around and say upgrade to 360 for $8/month. Buggers!

I hate updates and do not allow automatic ones. I finally did one last week and all I can determine is some cosmetic differences (which I don't particulary like).

Cheap shot, is what that was. My daughter is buying me a new computer so I'll be happy about that.
