Movie Marathon

Drove my elder daughter to the health center for her first dose of the vaccine. Then we decided to keep the rest of the day activity free. The chores can be done later. I decided to watch the movies that probably added to strong convictions in life: Brian's Song - James Caan Silverado - Kevin Kline, Scott Glen, et al And Justice For All - Al Pacino Delta Force - Chuck Norris That list was a treat. I remember tears rolling down my cheeks after watching Brian Piccolo expire from cancer. I was privy about racism then. Saw only the friendship between two young athletes. Silverado probably launched the careers of many an actor, including Danny Glover and Kevin Costner. The movie showed gun-toting men on horses, four flotsam and jetsam who became the unlikely heroes of the West. The diminutive Al Pacino as Arthur Kirkland, criminal defense lawyer, was performance par excellence in his explosive 'opening statement' scene, an image that remained in my mind through the decades, and was glad to see again. Lastly, I do not know why America has an imbecile of a senator called Ted Cruz who lambasted the military because if there is one admirable trait Americans have, it is the formidable force of men willing to undertake action to save American lives. Chuck Norris provided the definition of 'courage under fire' in Delta Force, the proto action flick that most likely set Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, etcetera, into stunts. A restful day yesterday was. Somewhere in between the films, I stood up from the couch, stretched, and went out to pick berries to nip on. There was also a gumamela flower for my altar.

@miftha That was why I stood up and went out to pick berries - to relax my eyes by looking at the green leaves. I stay a distance from the screen to protect my eyes.

@simplfred Oooopsie. Nope. Thanks but no thanks. Couldn't endure the real gore any longer, adding fictitious gore would be too much. I don't know how you guys could watch such!

@rakski Loved doggy stories since Benji and Beethoven and Lassie but this Boss Dog Bailey's story is disheartening. CJ could have had a wonderful life with her grandparents and could have been spared the struggle, but that would defeat the purpose of the dog's reincarnation journey. Still a good and moving watch.

I didn't know it's also called mansanitas. I pick that much every day and enjoy the sweetness every time I watch movies. I like movies very much.

Seeing your photo I am reminded I must pick some berries too. Dragon fruit, avocado are in season that my taste buds didn't long for the berries.

Avocado is among my favorite fruits. Dragon fruit is rare and expensive. Not offered in the local community grocer. Sigh. Now I am craving for avocado!

@florelway Grabe. So unfair! An avocado here costs thirty bucks apiece, I believe. That's why I planted avocado in the backyard years ago. Wouldn't grow though. Space small. Plus there's calamansi trees that could be impeding the growth. Life is indeed lovelier in the province.

@eileenleyva wish I can share you some avocado and dragon fruit. Avocado here costs 30 to 40 pesos per kilo and dragon fruit from 120 to 150 per kilo.

That's all right. We have our own preferences. Movies are our thing. Entertainment in a rectangular tube inside the home.
