No, 'the Money' IS NOT "in the List" (at least not MY money ...)

I'm studying a program called ClickTrackProfit---a series of video-tutorials attached to a cryptocurrency-program. The guy giving the tutorials keeps 'hammering in' the message that "The Money's in The (Email) List." In my light study of affiliate-marketing over the years, I've heard that 'Law of Internet Marketing' many times ... so-often that I'm probably on a few email-lists, which I joined thinking that I could use them to grow MY email-list. But--just like I don't really read the thousands of emails those lists send me every week--I would guess that any email I send to those lists don't get read either (much less making people send me money ) I tried to see if anybody had 'Wikipedia'-ed that phrase yet, and the closest thing I got (after a few Wikipedia lists of wealthy celebrities) was 'a money-making blogger's testimonial about "Building Your List".' There, he (like most of the others who've tried to convince me that 'The Money is in The List') testifies that--starting out with only a few thousand email-addresses put on his list by people who visited his blog--he managed to sell above the average amount to those users with his introduction- and follow up-emails. (I'm thinking THAT'S 'where the money is'---in the follow-up!) But not for me. For me, my list is my Twitter follower-list (with Twitter being the main 'platform' for sharing my blog-posts). When I think of online money-making, I think of Amazon. And does Amazon have an email-list? Maybe, but only because people want news of new products they can buy there. What do people want to get updates-on from me? Probably not 'things to buy' so much as 'things to learn (usually for FREE).' ... and See, @myLotBugs? 'someone other than Sabrina' has posted as if I can read what they wrote! It's great that they put in their contribution; but not if they want my response, because they blocked me! I wish you would inform them that--since they block me--I won't be able to respond until they UNblock me. Thank you.

Wut wut! I'm a CTP member too. I don't even know how long it's been, I must have joined in 2011/2012 and became more active in 2014 until the site slowly "fell down" and was rebuilt (I believe training is way better now, by the way). And... I'm so glad to read what I've been thinking for a while! Being of a relatively young generation, I've always looked down on email lists because really, who reads emails these days. We just spend our days scrolling on social media platforms. As long as you "build a brand" and people know how to find you (because life is unpredictable and you might get banned from social media at any time), building a list is not that important. It really depends on what you have to offer, as lists require you to promise (and deliver) valuable things all the time, or whatever brings people to actually check their inbox. Social media seems way easier.

Yeah, that's how I would 'respond' to it ... I mean; I remember in the past (it wasn't that long ago, but it feels like "a former age") when "reading and replying-to" my email was 'important.' Now, there are messages in there that've been there for months---messages I haven't opened and that I'm probably not going to! I'd say 'my list' now is frequent readers on my Twitter-list, where I feed my blog (and some of my myLot posts and other things that look interesting).

@mythociate Offtopic: I saw you're into MBTI types, nice. CTP training manages to be way ahead of their time (social network with crypto) and way back (email marketing) at the same time. Let's just take what resonates, it's not like they'll give us a diploma if we finish all modules the way they intended to.

That sounds very complicated.
