Now I Know Why Lord Jesus Christ Felt He Couldn't Stay (after His Resurrection)

Before I get started: I'm not blaming anyone for 'the apparent failure my life is' (where--instead of living with my wife & children (and possibly grandchildren by now)--I'm living with my mom, since my recovery is fairly full but my behavior is unpredictable. Most of all, I want to appreciate the sacrifice of caregiver-spouses---who give up their careers & independence etc. for the "ball & chain" of a dependent spouse. (And we dependents are really 'ball & chains' to our caregivers! (And I know that Lord Jesus' 'sacrifice' was "much more" than the spouses lose, which is still less than I lost; but ... I'll eventually explain how these sacrifices shadow Jesus' sacrifice ...) I know a couple of caregiver-spouses, but I know MORE caregiver-PARENTS (like my mom ... although most of THEIR dependents are more-paralyzed than me). And I wonder 'why don't our caregivers try to find spouses for us?' And I think I answered that question when I described 'the sacrifices the caregiver-spouses make'---and No one WANTS to give up 'the single life' in exchange for 'the caregiver's ball-&-chain!' (Now that I think of it, MOST of the caregiver-parents I know are DIVORCED ... ergo, they probably don't think a TBI-survivor could handle marriage; since THEY had to end their own!) Lord Jesus Christ ... do you think He'd have as many worshippers if He hadn't ascended back to Our Father? I don't; because--when we TBI-survivors stay alive (rather than 'ascending back to Our Father')-- ... well, our demographic isn't as wealthy as the Roman Catholic Church!

Unconditional love is scarce, at least it is not as scarce in parents, mothers especially. Love seems to be what makes sacrifice easier to bear. Faith too, of course. Lord Jesus had a mission he was aware of and determined to achieve. All the love and energy came from within and no matter how much we're loved and taken care of, we need self-love to stay alive and thrive. And a sense of purpose wouldn't hurt either. Our body is very wise and will do its best to keep us alive, the mind has to be tamed instead. Perhaps things become clear only when nothing is left except yourself. No distractions, no background noise, no ego crying for attention. It's just you, one of many souls, but bare and free unlike many other souls, and Earth becomes just one of the many places available. I don't know, I've never been there, just guessing.

And relationships with other people distract us from 'the harsh realities behind the truths of our lives'---for example, you think "love" is something another person makes you feel (if you're married or heavily involved with someone you're dating or etc.), but enough time alone reveals that it's actually ... something else, which would ruin the dating 'daydream' if I were to tell you here Anyway, I think--if I wanted to find a gal who was ready to 'give up her hopes & dreams of an independent career' for me--I'd want to find a girl who's thinking of becoming a nun

@sabtraversa "Biological instincts" are also very distracting. And the 'love'-distraction makes you think those instincts "feel so right" when you share them with your partner.

@mythociate If you feel you can relate to Lord Jesus, a wannabe nun wouldn't be a bad idea. Were you talking of... ehm... "biological instincts" in the other paragraph? We're animals, no doubt.

I don't think He would have worshipers because He directed all the glory to His father when He was on earth

Didn't He tell His disciples, "If you know me, you know The Father; for he and I are one?"
