Can you believe it? I mean, I can’t, but I also can because I’m a clutz and apparently uneven pavements are the enemy. My 11yr old niece and I were walking to the store, and I wound up bending my ankle inward and somewhat falling again. I say “somewhat” because I was really looking to sit down. She got upset because she’s sensitive (and that’s okay), and I knew I needed to go home and take care of it, so we nixed the store. I was really only going for a Starbucks Double Shot, which my brother-in-law and niece picked up for me a little while ago. Mocha, btw lol. The bad news is it’s the same ankle I rolled back in March. The good news is I was able to get home and take care of it quicker than the last time. I’m using the RICE method - Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. I rested, iced and elevated earlier and will do so again in a little bit, as well as when I go to bed. I bought these compression sleeves for my arches, but they helped my ankle the last time, so I have them on now (and I’ll take them off at bedtime). I have too much coming up to have to deal with this again. Luckily, one of those plans is an annual doctor’s appointment in a few weeks, so he can check it out if need be. My brother-in-law told me that since I injured my ankle a few months ago, it’s prone to injury, so I just need to be more careful. Yep, I agree, I need to be extra careful from here on out. All I was doing was walking though lol. But yeah, I just need to watch out for uneven areas of the pavement and other paths. Anyway, I’m not going to let it stop me from working. Thankfully, it’s not as bad as it was the last time, probably because I was able to get home quicker, and I’m sitting while I work, so I think it’ll be okay. You all take care and I’ll be back soon. I never heard of the RICE acronym but I will have to remember it. What are compression sleeves for your arches? Do tell. I have an arch that bothers me a lot from time to time and can use some ideas on how to help it when it acts up.

I think I learned about it through one of my writing orders a while back. It really helps. Here are the compression sleeves I have (never sleep in them though, it's not recommended): I also splurged a little after we got our stimulus checks and bought two pairs of shoes that are designed for walking/running, so they have the arch supports in them. Plus I have the Strutz brand of arch supports.

Ouchy. Oh man, what a bummer. I was thinking what your brother-in-law said: The same injury is prone to re-injury. I forgot about the RICE acronym. I'll have to keep it in mine; not that I'm planning an injury but one never knows. Hope you'll feel better soon.

I'm thinking so too. :( But I'll look into ankle braces next week, I have too many expenses coming out this week. Just to wear for protection when I'm at the park, concerts, etc. Definitely keep it in mind - you never know what's going to happen. Thank you so much.

It really sucks about your ankle, but it's okay. You know what to do, so it should recover a lot more quickly. Being able to sit while you work, helps.

Thank you so much! I have to walk to the post office later this week (probably Friday), so I'm not walking anywhere between now and then, nor have I walked anywhere since Sunday.

Jay repeatedly twisted his ankle playing basketball. His doctor prescribed him an ankle brace, that keeps this from happening over and over again. When you're going out walking, it would be beneficial to wear one on that ankle. I hope you're not much pain!

Thank you so much. My sister suggested the same thing. They have them for like, $10 at Walmart, so I may look into it as soon as next week. I think it'd be better to get one before my concert in August, as well as the many fall activities. I doubt I'll wear it at my sister's wedding (my choice), but it'll be in my bag, just in case.

@tammys85 Whenever Jay plays basketball at the gym, he wears that ankle brace. This prevents him from ever twisting it again, on the basketball court. His ankle is fully healed up, he doesn't want to twist it a third time!
