Isabella Martin who is a 16 year old teen is being credited for using her wits to alert her next door neighbor Brian Sidney-Smith that his home had caught fire just before midnight on Thursday in Webster New York.
Brian who was inside his home at the time of the incident thought his next door neighbor was pulling a prank on him by knocking on his door around midnight during the thunderstorm.
Brian took the advice from Isabelle to heart and left his home as soon as he could not see any flames from inside of his home.
The smoke alarms did awake Brian which he admitted was a good even though in the past he would believe it was a false alarm which in this occasion it was for real.
When Brian left his home to go outside, he did see the flames in his roof of the two story home.
Brian was in shock when the flames consumed the entire home within minutes which destroyed his home by the time the firefighters came to put out the fire.
Isabella's father called 911 to ask for assistance to put out the fire while his daughter warned Brian about the fire that would have likely ended his life had his next door neighbor not warned him about the danger of his house being on fire.
Isabella and her relatives came from New York City on a plane ride that was delayed due to bad weather.
Isabella admitted had the plane ride arrived on time as scheduled, it is doubtful that she would have been awake to warn her next door neighbor that his home caught fire.

Nice to learn that neighbors watch each other's backs these days.

I agree with you since sometimes delays in coming home do give persons a chance to make something good happen like rescuing a neighbor in need.

Brian was lucky that Isabella was awake to warn him.
