I finally made the first hummingbird food here at the apartment. I have to let it cool way down before I put it in the plastic feeder, but I should be able to do that and put it out by late this afternoon. I note that the feeder has just a plastic hook at the top--I don't know if I can get that off or if I'll just add some gardening wire to it so that the feeder will hang a little lower. I know it doesn't matter either way--just what I'm used to--and I'd like to be able to see the hummingbirds on the feeder when I'm sitting out there or through the window.
