As a former employee at a fast food pizza parlor for 20 years working in the Greater New Orleans cities of New Orleans and Metairie, I can relate to what happened to the employees who were working at Waffle House in Knoxville Tennessee on a recent weekend.
Six correctional officers who work in Jefferson County went to visit the Waffle House on Sunday after they worked a 12 hour shift to get some breakfast when a waitress at the restaurant told the officers the bad news that the restaurant was closed since several employees had walked out at mid shift for unknown reasons.
Sergeant Jonathan Bright who is the leader of the crew of officers decided to do his duty to assist the skeleton crew of employees that were inside the restaurant to clean up all of the dishes, clean up the trash and sweep up the floors.
The six correctional officers worked as a team to clean up the mess and take orders inside the waffle house in two hours so it could reopen for business on Sunday.
Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Coffey is proud of the work that his employees did lending the employees at the Waffle House to assist them in getting the restaurant open and running when the employees of the next shift reported for duty.
The lesson learned is that the correctional officers who came off of their 12 hour shift did their part to give to their community.
Sheriff Coffey is asking everyone to do their part to assist people in need since it will be a benefit for all of us in the long run.

What they did is truly commendable.
I'm curious as to why the employees walked out mid-shift?
