First hummingbird food at the apartment, anyway! I had meant to make it more of a lavender, but too many drops of blue and red went into the measuring cup. It didn't take as long to cool down as I thought. I added a bit of gardening wire to the hook so that it would hang a little lower, and there it is ! I've seen hummingbird feeders on other people's patios while walking Angel, so I hope some hummin'd'birds will come to mine ! (I sometimes call them "hummin'd'birds" because years ago a little girl at a preschool I worked at saw a hummingbird flying though the yard and said, "Teacher, look! A hummin'd'bird! A hummin'd'bird!" That stuck in my head. )

What do you add to your nectar? I hope you get hummingbirds soon.

@xstitcher There is no reason to add any red dyes to hummingbird sugar water. After all, natural flower nectar is clear, and hummingbird feeders have colorful parts that attract hummingbird regardless of the color of the sugar water. But if that is how you want to make it, I am sure the hummers will love it. I use sugar and water only. Good luck! I have seen only two here so far.

@CarolDM sometimes I don't add red dye--sometimes it's green or yellow or blue! Besides, if it's colored, I can see better how soon I have to make new food.
