Day 24 Genesis 46:1 And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac. 2 And God spoke unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here am I.” 3 And he said, “I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation: 4 “I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.” Many times, it appears God is far away. Life seems to turn against you. Nothing you do works. Jacob’s sons sold Joseph into slavery in Egypt, took the coat Jacob made for him, dipped it in a goat's blood, and told his father Joseph was dead and Jacob believed them. Between the time they took Joseph from him until he received word that Joseph was alive; he didn’t talk to God to find out the truth but accepted what his sons told him. Now, after many years, his sons brought news that Joseph was alive and was the ruler in Egypt and wanted him to come to Egypt to live. Then God talked to Jacob and told him to go to Egypt and promised to bring him back to Canaan. As Christians, many of you give up on God when you don’t hear God’s voice or see your prayers answered. You feel deserted. Yet, it is in the silence; you need to trust Him more. God promised never to leave you or forsake you. In the silence, He works to bring you out of your bondage into a place of freedom. You need to believe, persevere, and never give up hope. In His time, God will show you how He took care of you in the silence. Then you will feel His hand on you and your joy will know no bounds as you press into God and allow Him to lead you. Let’s pray: Father, You know all things. You alone are omniscient, ever-present in my life. Take my hand and lead me. Show me You are always with me even in the quiet times of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 7 July 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
