Why it takes me so long to register the car.

The process is simple enough - secure a form, stencil the engine number, get insurance, test emission level, and file. Easy enough except I had to get my insurance at the bank where the amount is half the price the insurance companies within the proximity of the Land Transportation Office charge. I don't mind waiting.

I do not like waiting especially when I am waiting for something I like and I need.

This waiting means I could save more money for something I want or need. That's why I don't mind. The courier delivered the contract yesterday. Two days was good enough waiting. I'd buy a happy meal later.

@id_peace Oooopsie, I didn't mean that food chain. I stay away from fast food because of my health condition. By a happy meal I mean hot wanton noodles and shrimp hacao, some Hongkong style stir fry with peanut sauce and a liter of coco juice. Plus chicken empanada for snacks. Here's a confession. I bought all the happy meals decades ago for my daughters. I still have the toys in my toy cabinet. Sigh. Still couldn't part with those little play things. Reminds me of a sweet time I was enjoying motherhood.

Two days seems reasonable. What is the toys for the happy meal?

Annual registration done. My midyear activity. Sigh of relief.

@eileenleyva Oh! Now I remember that you have to register your car every year in the Philippines. Here, we only have to register once you have a new car or you have bought a second hand car when you have to change the name of the owner. The same with insurance.

@thelme55 Exactly why the Filipinos suffer doubly hard. We are the government's piggy bank.

I hope you are done with the registration of your car by now. I think it's wiser to get insurance where the prices are way much lower than those that are easily available. It may take time to finish your registration but if it will save you some money would be wise to spend some time on it.

@rsa101 Expecting nothing but I have given the chief a piece of my mind. At least she has disciplined her people and there's some semblance of decency in the office.

Done this morning. My feedback - LTO is deteriorating. The registration forms are xeroxed. No control number any longer. Then there's no more stickers for the shield nor for the plate. Come to think of it, I have not received my supposedly new plate which I've been charged years ago!

@allen0187 Yup. The chief put her house in order, including doing away with the questionable doctor who, it seems to me, ain't licensed.

That's the idiom I hate most. I recall really quarreling with a female LTO branch head whose office couldn't deliver the license at the appointed time. Invoked the government policy that documents must be released within a period of time. Reported that creature actually.

You need to register a car yourself? But then again, I bought from the supplier directly. The agent did all the work.

Registration needs to be renewed annually.

Wait. Transportation Offices and Banks issue vehicle insurance? Do you not have Insurance Carriers that compete by offering lower rates or better coverage? Why can the Bank provide coverage for half the cost? Please forgive me if I'm asking stupid questions.

Not at all stupid questions, Very relevant actually. The car registrants are offered policy by the insurance company near the Land Transportation Office. For easy facilitation, the registrants avail of that policy. I only got to learn that I could avail of a bank policy several years ago because I complained how high the insurance being charged was. The bank, I believe, is more stable that they are able to offer a coverage half the cost smaller insurance companies can offer.
