Columbus Ohio police officer Brian Wilson insists he was just doing his job as a 26 year old veteran of the Columbus Ohio police department when he answered the call for help from his neighbor Mary Giedeman who is the mother of two year old girl Carmella who was seen laying face down in the swimming pool on Saturday June 19. To be fair Mary made a minor error by not closing the back door after she opened it to let her get dog to take a walk outside in the evening. When Mary realized that something was not right, she went outside, saw her daughter in the above ground swimming pool in the backyard not moving at all. Mary jumped into the swimming pool to get Carmella out of the pool and into the deck. Mary dealt with two major problems. First she did not know to perform CPR and second her husband Stephen Lopez was in Cleveland visiting friends. Mary screamed at the top of her lungs in her way of asking for someone to assist her when her calls for help when off duty police officer Brian Wilson who is a dad himself came to use his first aid training as he was in the company of his wife Holly who returned from a canoe trip earlier in the day. Officer Wilson performed CPR on Mary for about one minute until the ambulance arrived to continue giving Carmella CPR until she regained consciousness while her mother prayed to God to have Him revive her daughter. Carmella spent two days at the Nationwide Children's Hospital to be monitored by the doctors until she made a complete recovery. Both Steve and Mary thanked Officer Wilson and his wife for their act of service of saving their daughter from dying. They have become the best of friends.

I agree with you. By saving the life of the child, the mom is happy that her minor error was not fatal.

I think every parent should know CPR for emergency purposes and that starts with me. May GOD bless you more officer.

That is a good question since having to take care of a pet and child at the same time can be stressful.
