This was a match which I fondly remember. During the month of September 2002, India and England played in the Champions Trophy cricket.
England batted first and with the help of a brilliant 82 of 68 balls by Ian Blackwell, 50 by opener Nick Knight and useful contribution by Alec Stewart, England scored 269 runs in 50 overs.
In return, what followed was a classic innings by Virendra Sehwag and a timely paced 100 by Sourav Ganguly.
If one has to see a trademark Sehwag innings that delights, this was the innings.
He cut, drove, pulled and smashed boundaries to all parts of the ground. There were a few lucky chances but overall, he just took the game away from England.
He was particularly severe on Andrew Caddick and Dominick Cork.
He scored 126 of 104 balls. Once he was out, Ganguly took over with fours and sixes and scored an unbeaten 117 runs. India won by 8 wickets.
