"Why Do You Come to Me? Why Do I Deserve This Generosity?"

The major "set-up" scene for the film The Godfather is when Virgil Sollozzo comes to Don Corleone to request $1 million and protection in order to get a heroin racket started in the U.S. He promises three to four million dollars return on the "investment."
Most of what follows in the film springs from this scene: Don Corleone surviving an assassination attempt, Michael coming to "the dark side" (to steal a line from another great movie) and killing the man who tried to kill his dad, Sonny's death, and the climatic ending all spring from this scene.
In the scene, Don Corleone asks the drug kingpin, "Why do you come to me? Why do I deserve this generosity?"
I think about that line when I get people who pop up here on myLot, make an account, and do one of two things: (a) post ONE response; or (b) make NO responses or discussions and yet follow a number of people.
When I get a notification that someone with no activity at all here is following me, I can't help but think about Don Corleone's remark.
Or, if you look at the screen grab above, when someone creates an account and makes one comment -- and a pretty bad one at that -- then vanishes off the face of the myLot earth, again I have to wonder why I got picked to be so "lucky" to be blessed with this one comment.
(Of course, in my case, I'm being exceptionally sarcastic when I repeat Don Corleone's words.)
Oh, well. As long as no one sleeps with the fishes.

And, let me guess, the one comment is something like "good" or "okay."

@DianneN -- the one that always tickled me was someone would post "nice of this" in every discussion he/she responded to. It became kind of a joke (the "nice of this" remark, not the actual activity....of course, that was a joke, a sad one).

The Godfather was on AGAIN tonight; and, of course, my husband watched it AGAIN. When a new person follows me, I've learned not to follow them unless they have some decent activity. 99.99% of the time they do just as you said...either no activity or one response.

Let me guess: AMC channel. They show the three movies for a week at least twice a year. And I haven’t had cable in three years!

Strange as it might seem I have read a lot about the Godfather movies and they have been talked about even in other movies but I have never seen even one,
