Mike Gillooly was someone in the world of Putt Putt that I sadly never got to know. He passed away in 2005.
The course in Newark, Ohio, where he lived, has a beautiful memorial to him: Gillooly Falls.
Most of the Putt Putts or even mini golf courses not under the brand name have elevated 18th holes. The 18th holes at Newark are flat. The two courses are separated by a fence, with a lovely man made pond to welcome people to the end of the course.
The pond has a number of goldfish in it, and is fed by a water source that flows in via a man made waterfall. A plaque shows the name “Gillooly Falls” in Mike’s memory.
The longtime players have told me what a wonderful man he was, and the serene pond seems to be a perfect tribute to one of our late friends.

Mike was indeed a wonderful human being since a memorial in his name after him is a nice place to play putt putt golf.
