I am sure that most of you have heard about the Miami condo collapse. The fact the I just moved into a building that’s 40 years old kinda scares me. It’s only 3 floors here. It’s sad that those people were in their own homes. Can’t even be safe in your own home. May they all Rest In Peace. For those who don’t know about this, I left a link below. How old is the building where you live?

I know all about it. . Luckily, our 4 floor building in Florida began structural checkups before that collapse. They checked our unit inside as well. Now it’s impossible to get an appointment for a building check since the companies are all booked up.

The house I live in is 40 years old too. It gets damp in the rainy season here and crevices have formed at various places.

that's sad... if you're afraid, maybe you could try to move somewhere else? building where i live is pretty old too, but i don't have such fear.

Yes. I would prefer to live in a new building. Not all owners take care of their properties sadly.

The landlords have to make sure the building is stable. That’s for sure.

@Ladanger I think government or the authorities can issue some sort of NOC after checking the place
