These kinds of stories where a fire burns down a home that causes heartbreak to the victims of these fires also brings out persons who risk their lives to rescue persons who would have perished in a fire had a good neighbor not come to assist them. A fire that happened on Monday morning around 4am in Taft Texas that severely damaged many houses in the neighborhood brought out the bravery of Gregorio Garcia who answered the call for assistance where an elderly couple were trapped inside their burning home. Gregorio with the help of two strangers were able to assist the elderly couple to escape their home that caught fire with Gregorio breaking down a door to get the couple out of their home safely. The elderly couple who were rescued by Gregorio and the two strangers Antonio and Antonia Riojas are grateful for their neighbors who worked as a team to save them from perishing in a house fire. The community in Taft Texas will do what they can to rebuild the home of Antonio who is a Korean War veteran. Even though a house fire destroyed several homes in the neighborhood, there was no loss of life in this incident.
